The town of Almancil is just a fifteen minute drive from the Algarve city of Faro and covers an area of approximately 62 km2. A bustling town with all of the usual amenities, Almancil has numerous banks, clinics, restaurants, shops and cafes along its main street Avenida 5 de Outubro. Many expat businesses are based in Almancil because of its proximity to the luxury golf and leisure resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago. These include insurance brokers, golf shops and English speaking estate agents.
There is plenty to do and see in and around Almancil. In the nearby village of S o Louren o, there is a wonderful example of an early church built in 1730. There are many Blue Flag beaches near Almancil and some fantastic beach restaurants serving Algarvian fish dishes along side quality international cuisine. Almancil has its own tennis and fitness centre, a host of top class sports facilities and of course golf courses.
